- Job hunting methods that go beyond simply sending out resumes
- Ways to discover what you want to do with your life
- Making and following through with goals for your future
- Reviews of online and printed resources to help with the above topics
- My experience following my own advice
I have a specific audience in mind for this blog. If you fit into any of the following categories, you may want to keep reading:
- The millions out there who are unemployed or underemployed and who would like tips on finding a new job.
- Recent college graduates who spent all that time, effort, and money and who are now running into barriers getting past that first employment hurdle.
- Anyone who suddenly finds themselves with no direction for their future and would like help figuring it out.
- Undecided college students who need to pick a major, but don't know what they want to do.
- Potential future employers who'd like to know more about me before making hiring decisions (hope hope).
- Other advisors who get a kick out of reading advising blogs.
No matter who you are or why you're here, welcome!
I'm in it for "Ways to discover what you want to do with your life." That's pretty important to me right now.

ReplyDeleteWhile the focus of this blog is on career change, many of the techniques I'll discuss can be used for any life change. A job is, after all, just a way to spend our energy, similar to anything else we do with our lives. So I hope you can get a lot out of the blog as well.
Welcome!
This part of the blog is very helpful because I started reading earlier on (the writing section to be specific) and it was helpful in a way but the application of it was kind of lost on me because I didn't know what it was leading too, but then I came down and read this part and it helps a ton more because now I understand where this blog will take me.

ReplyDeleteI'm glad that this helps. The purpose may change over time as I refine my own ideas. Anytime you undertake a major project, it's good to start with a Purpose statement. That way, you have some direction and focus.
You may consider putting this up in a tab up top. It might help clarify for people what you hope to accomplish, both for yourself and for them. It makes for a very clear intro.
